Installation

All of our turbines can be self installed by capable do-it-
yourselfers. To complete the installation, you will likely require
the assistance of a:

  • General contractor or builder to dig and pour the foundations, and to trench from the
turbine location to the electrical interconnection point.
  • Electrician to wire turbine, run conduit from turbine location to inverter location and to
make connections to the utility grid.

Good Do-it-yourselfers can do some of this work themselves, but in most parts of the country you
will need licensed professionals to complete the electrical installation to code.

Basic installation of the system is accomplished as follows:
  1. Identify installation location (see "Site Assessment")
  2. Stake out foundation(s)
  3. Identify location for cable run from turbine to electrical interconnection point, usually near
    your electric power meter.
  4. Dig foundation holes and trench for turbine wiring.
  5. Please foundation steel in foundation hole(s) and lay conduit in tower foundation bed
  6. Pour concrete for foundations
  7. Place inverter near interconnection location
  8. Install tower site disconnect switch, as required
  9. Assemble tower on ground
  10. Install/wire turbine on tower
  11. Raise tower and secure tower support bolts or guy wires. Do this only when there is no
    wind.
  12. Connect turbine wires to electrical equipment, this should be done quickly so the turbine
does not spin freely without being connected to the controller, which could damage the
    turbine.
  13. Test the turbine and electronics to make sure it is working properly.
  14. If the system is grid-tied, make sure you have a completed interconnection agreement and
or specific approval from your local utility.
